Please reach us at info@otterpsychology.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
This will depend a lot on the kind of therapy we agree to go ahead with.
We will always begin with getting to know you and/or your child. We begin with an initial conversation to understand your concerns, needs, and hopes. Both for adults and children, its so important to build that initial safety and trust to make sure you feel secure and understood. Over time, we will work towards deepening your understanding of yourself or your child and consider how you would like to move towards strengthening your connections and moving towards change.
That's ok and you're not alone. It can be hard to know where to start and that is where Emily (or our therapy dog!) will be able to support and guide you to begin exploring things together. Things will begin slowly and we will start with just getting to know each other. The pace of sessions is different for everyone.
Yes! Confidentiality is so important and is a key part of therapy; for you to know that the information you share in our sessions won't be shared anywhere else. Emily is registered with the Information Commissioner and all the information we keep complies with GDPR guidelines.
The only time we would need to share information outside our sessions would be if it was felt that this was needed in order to keep someone safe. We would usually try to speak to you about this first if this was the case.
We would recommend weekly sessions to start to help us build a therapeutic relationship and gain an understanding of what you'd like to work towards. We then review our progress and decide together how many more sessions you might need and how often to meet.
We cover the areas surrounding Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire and have an office space in Lincoln located at The Relationship Therapy Hub (LN6 0EJ). This has off street parking and wheelchair access as well as rooms designed specially with therapy in mind. If you can't travel, or if we decide to work together online then we can have our sessions while you are anywhere in the UK!
Starting therapy can be a daunting experience. We want to make sure you feel you have all the information you need in order to make an informed decision. Please do get in touch if you have any specific questions or apprehensions and we will do our very best to answer. We can offer a 30 minute phone consultation to explore whether these sessions can meet your needs and what that might look like.
We understand that sometimes something might come up which means you're no longer able to attend your appointment. We do ask that you give us 48 hours notice before a cancelled session to avoid losing the full session fee.
You can find information on our prices in our section on fees.
As each individual and family is different, we are happy to explore putting together a package which is most suited to you and your family if you would like to get in touch to discuss this.
The Adoption and Special Guardianship Fund (ASGSF formerly ASF) is available to fund services for adopted children. Please get in touch if you are unsure or have additional questions around this.
If you are a professional seeking supervision, or an organisation or school looking for consultation or training please do get in touch to discuss what we might be able to offer.
